An Account of the Island of Ceylon, containing its History, Geography, Natural History, with the Manners and Customs of its various Inhabitants ; to which is added, the Journal of an Embassy to the Court of Candy (1803 First Edition) by Robert Percival is one of the earliest and most important British-era descriptions of Sri Lanka following the establishment of British rule in 1796. Written by an officer of the 19th Regiment of Foot, the work provides detailed observations on the island’s history, geography, natural history, and the customs and daily life of its inhabitants, together with a significant firsthand account of an embassy to the Court of Kandy.

This important early colonial work is especially valued for its historically significant maps and charts, which helped improve European geographical understanding of the island. As one of the foundational British publications on Ceylon, the book remains highly sought after by collectors of Sri Lankan history, colonial travel literature, and early 19th-century exploration narratives.

A cornerstone work for serious collectors of Ceylon/Sri Lanka history and early British colonial publications.
